Application of luminescence methods for phytoplankton chlorophyll a estimation

ABSTRACT
The study describes the role of phytoplankton in aquatic ecosystems and the threats that are posed by eutrophication of the bodies of water used for municipal or agricultural purposes. A measuring set and the luminescence method of measuring chlorophyll a content in active phytoplankton have been presented. The luminescence method was compared with the commonly used method of spectrophotometric determination of chlorophyll a concentration.

W pracy omówiono rolę fitoplanktonu w ekosystemach wodnych oraz zagrożenia, jakie może stworzyć eutrofizacja zbiorników wodnych wykorzystywanych do celów komunalnych i rolniczych. Przedstawiono zestaw pomiarowy oraz metodę luminescencyjnego określania zawartości chlorofilu a w fotosyntetycznie aktywnym fitoplanktonie. Porównano metodę luminescencyjną z ogólnie stosowaną metodą spektrofotometrycznego określania zawartości chlorofilu a.
