ABSTRACT
Ryszard Turski was born on 22nd Feb. 1930. In 1954 he graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. During the course of studies he got associated with the Department of Soil Science, helping collect the data for the Map of Polish Soils. Then he enteres post-graduate studies, which he finished in 1959, after the defence of his doctor's dissertation entitled "The effect of erosion on the limestone soil of the Lublin Uplands". The title of a professor was conferred on him in 1972, and that of a full professor in 1978.

Prof. Dr hab. Ryszard Turski jako uczony i nauczyciel –w 70-lecie urodzin i 45-lecie pracy
Prof. dr hab. Ryszard Turski urodził się 22 lutego 1930 roku we Włostowicach, dziś dzielnicy Puław. Tam w 1943 roku ukończył publiczną szkołę powszechną stopnia podstawowego, a w 1949 roku Państwowe Liceum i Gimnazjum im. Adama Jerzego ks. Czartoryskiego, w klasie o kierunku humanistycznym. W tym samym roku podjął studia na Wydziale Rolnym Uniwersytetu Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej w Lublinie. Dwustopniowe studia ukończył w 1954 roku, wykonując pracę magisterską pod kierunkiem prof. dr hab. Bohdana Dobrzańskiego.
