Standardization is an essential element of current modern research techniques. However, analyzing the whole range of agrophysics research of plant materials it is easy to observe that there is a great number of different methods and ways of measuring the same physical quantities, and, thus, there is a lack of standard, generally recognized measurement procedures. Undoubtedly, this resu lts from the complexity of processes taking place in this type of materials. As a result of excessive diversity of methods in use, this specific approach to research -­ in the area indispensable to the development of modern, balanced agricultural and food production -­ becomes a hindrance for technological operations that is the operations which are based on the knowledge and methods of using the matter. The paper presents conditions regarding the issue of standardizing the methods of measuring physical properties of plant materials.
